Cougars hire Chris Perri to lead women’s soccer

The varsity women's soccer team has a new bench boss who is looking to make some noise in the OCAA this season. 

With over 30 years of playing and coaching experience, Chris Perri is up for the challenge. Growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, Perri played competitive soccer with the Sault Amateur Soccer Association Premier and the York Region Soccer League. His strong performance as a player landed him a tryout with the Michigan State Spartans in 1993. 

After graduating with a degree in Education from the University of Windsor and gaining teaching experience in Barrie, Ontario, Perri returned home and has been coaching various sports ever since. As a teacher at Korah Collegiate & Vocational School, he encourages his student-athletes to focus on post-secondary athletics, which is why this position is a perfect fit. 

Perri recently welcomed Vanessa Rota (Nipissing University), Kala Studens (University of Waterloo) and Rachel Cobean (St. Joseph's College) to the Cougars coaching staff, which gives them a solid foundation to grow the program. "Our coaches have competed at the post-secondary level and are eager to share their experiences with our players. Each of the coaches has an area of expertise that they will focus on during the season to build well-rounded athletes that can compete in the OCAA."

The women's soccer team will host tryouts in August, and all interested athletes are encouraged to fill out the recruitment form to receive more information.
