Men's Soccer Records First Tie of the Season

Men's Soccer Records First Tie of the Season

The men's soccer team recorded their first tie of the season on Sunday afternoon against the Fleming Phoenix. Fleming opened the scoring early in the first half, but first-year midfielder Roberto Vladuleasa scored on a penalty kick to tie the game 1-1 heading into the second half. Fleming once again took the lead, but in the 90th minute, Cougars' Nathan Lajunen headed one past the Phoenix' goalkeeper for the tie. A strong defensive performance kept Fleming to only 5 shots all game, while the Cougars had 11 shot attempts.

The women's team lost 4-1 to Fleming College after they took an early 3-0 lead in the first 38 minutes. First-year forward Farrah Farstad got the Cougars on the scoreboard before the end of the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Phoenix netted one more for the victory. Shots on goal were 15 to 6 in favor of the Phoenix.
