Groleau, Tagoona Named Sault College Freshii Athletes of the Week

Women’s hockey player Jasmine Groleau & Men’s hockey player Jon Tagoona have been named Sault College’s Freshii Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 4, 2024.

Groleau, a 3rd year senior from Timmins, ON pursuing a career as a Natural Environment Technician lead the Cougars women’s varsity team to 3 wins over the weekend. She was a go-to player at even strength as well as on special teams. Groleau finished her weekend with 6 points (4G, 2A) including hat-trick against Mercyhurst University & the game winning goal with 16 seconds remaining against Niagara University W1 team. Jasmine recorded her 100th career point as well over the weekend – Way to go!

Tagoona, a 2nd year General Arts & Science student from Rankin Inlet, NU, was a major contributor for the Cougars over the weekend as they swept the Northern Michigan Univeristy Wildcats. Tagoona played a solid 200-foot game, being defensively responsible while maintaining offensive zone time across the 2-game set. He was rewarded with an assist in the second game. Way to go Jon!
