Carlson, Reid Named Sault College Freshii Athletes of the Week
Women’s hockey player Amy Carlson & Men’s curling team Vice-Skip Jake Reid have been named Sault College’s Freshii Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2024.
Carlson, a 3rd year defenseman from Sault Ste. Marie pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology led the offensive charge for the Cougars in their Winter Classic against Lawrence Tech this past weekend. Carlson showcased her offensive skill recording 2 goals and 4 assists across the 2-game series, contributing significantly to the Cougars commanding 9-0 and 12-0 victories.
Reid, a 4th year Apprentice from Sault Ste. Marie, was a key member of the men’s curling team at the Mohawk College Invitational Bonspiel. Jake executed several highlight reel shots at pivotal moments in the games, helping to lead the men’s team to a 2-1 record at the event. Jake is a big addition to the team this year and is expected to play a crucial role as Cougars Curling prepares for the OCAA Provincial Curling Championships February 7th-10th.
