Simms, Nicholson named Sault College Freshii Athletes of the Week

Men’s Curler Connor Simms & Mixed Doubles Curler Brooke Nicholson have been named Sault College’s Freshii Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 28, 2024.

Simms, a 2nd year Sports Administration student from Sault Ste Marie, ON, played a critical role this past weekend leading the men’s curling team to a bronze medal at the OCAA Provincial Curling Championship. His consistently high level of play and excellent strategic shot calls frustrated opponents. The team will now start preparing for the national championship.

Nicholson, a 1st year Aviation student from Sault Ste. Marie, ON was named the MVP of the Mixed Doubles division at the OCAA Provincial Championships over the weekend. Her excellent decision making, and execution helped lead her team to the gold medal. Nicholson provided the final shot of the tournament, setting a guard to steal the tournament winning point in an extra end. Great work Brooke!
