Cougars Soccer Wraps up Season at OCAA Regionals
Sault College Cougars Men’s & Women’s indoor soccer teams travelled south this past week to compete in the OCAA Regional Playoffs at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Each team participated in the 5-team round robin with games against Laurier, Durham, Humber and Fanshawe.
The Men’s team kicked things off with an 8:30AM start against Laurier, securing a 3-2 victory on a game winning goal from Abraham Bravo. The Cougars would then face off against a strong Durham College team, dropping a 5-1 decision, with Bravo scoring the lone goal for the Cougars. In their final two round robin games, the Cougars failed to get on the scoresheet as they dropped games to Fanshawe & Humber by a score of 6-0 each. This would mark the end of the Cougars soccer season as they finished the regional playoff with a record of 1-3.
On the Women’s side of the action, the Cougars opened their round robin action against Laurier. The opening match was a hard-fought defensive battle, with the Cougars coming up short with an opening loss 1-0. The competition would increase as the day went on with games against Durham, Fanshawe and Humber all finishing in 6-0 defeats for the Cougars, finishing their day with a 0-4 record, ending their season.
Thank you to all Cougar Soccer players for the work ethic, commitment, and determination this season!
