Cougars Women's Hockey Ready to Drop the Puck on Nationals!

Sault College Cougars Women’s Hockey team begins their quest to repeat as ACHA National Champions this week. The Cougars entered the season with high expectations after defeating the Northeastern Huskies in the championship last season. Returning 10 players from last year’s team, the Cougars were able to finish the season with an overall record of 23-1-1 and capped off with the CCWHA Regional Playoff championship in which they defeated Arian College by a score of 4-0.

The Cougars were a powerhouse in the CCWHA again this season, led by forward Emily Moore, who was named a first team ACHA all-star while pacing the league with 63 points in only 25 games. Emma Lee & Materia land added 32 & 31 goals respectively on the season to have 3 Cougars in the top 5 scoring across the ACHA. The Cougars will lean on their experienced forwards as the competition stiffens up throughout the round robin play.

Sault College will get their tournament started on March 12th at 2:00PM EST with a rematch against Mercyhurst College, whom they defeated in February by a score of 6-0. Game 2 will go on Wednesday, March 13th at 2:00PM EST against the United States Naval Academy. Round Robin action will wrap up on Thursday March 14th at 4:45PM with a matchup against Northeastern, in a highly anticipated showdown between the finalists last season. Division winners will qualify for the medal round, with semi-finals action on Friday March 15th & the finals on Saturday March 16th.

Keep an eye on Sault College Athletics social media channels for streaming links, game updates and viewing party information. All round robin games are available for stream on Flohockey.tv (Subscription Required) or at Odeno Pub on campus for all students to catch the action.
