Sault College Cougars vs. Adrian College Bulldogs – ACHA Men's Division 3 Game

The Sault College Men's Hockey team travelled to Adrian Michigan for a 2 game road trip this weekend. The Cougars are coming into the weekend with a 3-1-0 record and the Adrian College Bulldogs are competing in their season opening games.

The Cougars hit the scoreboard early in the game with a goal by Captain Ryan Vendramin just after the 2 minute mark. Each team scored an additional goal in the 1st period to end the first 20 minutes with the Cougars up 2-1.  Mid-way through the 2nd period, Adrian freshman, Daniel Bennett tied the game at 2 but the Cougars responded quickly with 2 more goals from Andrew Barbeau and Austen Rowe.  The Cougars finished the period strong with their 5th goal of the game coming from Parker Morgan.   The 3rd period remained scoreless until just beyond the 5 minute mark where the Bulldog's Bennett notched his 2nd goal of the game while short-handed.  The Bulldogs didn't stop there and were able to net 1 more goal from Mathieu Barrette at the 3:23 mark of the 3rd period.  The Cougars finished the game with a 5-4 win putting them at a 4-1-0 record and Adrian at 0-1-0 for the season.

Goaltending and special teams were significant factors in the first of the 2 game series.  The Cougars put 54 shots on net against Bulldog's senior Will Emch and Brian Kment from the Cougars faced 26 shots.  The game resulted in 30 minor penalties being assessed.

Sault College Cougars vs. Adrian College Bulldogs – ACHA Men's Division 3 Game

After a close game between the Adrian College Bulldogs and the Sault College Cougars Saturday October 13th, the teams faced off again today at 2:30.  Adrian College was looking for the opportunity to finish their season opening weekend with a win.

Both teams hit the scoreboard twice in the first period with singles from Thrower and Rowe from the Cougars as well as sophmores Herbert and Benaglio from the Bulldogs.  The second period favoured 4 additional goals for the Cougars and 2 for the Bulldogs.  Bryceton Lalonde of the Cougars netted 3 of the 4 Cougar goals in the 2nd.  The 3rd period remained close until just before the 9 minute mark where the Cougars opened up the scoring.  Sault College Captain Ryan Vendramin picked up a hat trick in the 3rd period and Bryceton Lalande added another goal to the score sheet.  The final score in favour of the Cougars was 11-4.

The Cougars put 46 shots on net against Bulldog's freshman Taylor Troxel and Drew Gregory from the Cougars faced 39 shots.  The game resulted in 13 minor penalties being assessed.

The Cougars are on the road next weekend from Thursday to Sunday as Northwood University hosts the Schupan Memorial Tournament.  Adrian College finishes the weekend with a 0-2-0 record and Sault College has a 5-1-0 record.
