Cougars Conquer the Schupan Memorial Tournament
Sault College Cougars Compete in the Schupan Memorial Tournament in Midland Michigan, hosted by Northwood University.
October 18, 2018 - Sault College Cougars vs. Central Michigan University (CMU) – ACHA Men's Division 3
The Cougars outmatched the CMU in their first game of the tournament by a score of 17-5. Strong performances on the scoreboard were provided by Ryan Vendramin, Mark Tassone and Austin Rowe.
October 19, 2018 – Sault College Cougars vs Northwood University – ACHA Men's Division 3
Northwood University came out strong in the first period holding the Cougars to only 1 goal in the 1st period. Mark Tassone opened up the scoring in the second period, and 5 more goals followed prior to the 40 minute mark of the game. The Cougars were able to add 3 more in the 3rd period for a final score of 10-0 against the tournament host.
October 20, 2018 – Sault College Cougars vs Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) – ACHA Men's Division 3
Mark Tassone of the Cougars hit the scoreboard first, with Matt Carter of SVSU following up seconds later to tie the game. Steven Roberts and Jonathan Thomas of SVSU scored 2 additional times in addition to Ryan Vendramin's 1st period goal. With SVSU leading the Cougars by 1 goal at the end of the 1st period, the Cougars rallied back to score 4 additional goals in the 2nd period with SVSU adding 1 goal as well. Parker Morgan of the Cougars added the lone 3rd period goal to finish the game with a 7-4 win.
The Cougar's next action is November 3rd and 4th when they travel to Michigan State (6-0-0) for 2 road games. Sault College will take a weekend off with an 8-1-0 record.
