Cougars took on the Spartans

November 3 & 4, 2018 – Sault College Cougars Compete against Michigan State University at Munn Ice Arena.

 

November 3, 2018 - Sault College Cougars (8-1-0-0) vs. Michigan State University (MSU) (6-2-0-0) – ACHA Men's Division 3

The Cougars started the game strong by notching 3 unanswered goals within a 4 minute stretch during the 1st period.  Goals came from Andrew Barbeau, Austen Rowe and Max Khull.  MSU came out in the 2nd period with a strong performance, scoring 4 unanswered goals from Austin Rothe, Nicholas Baugh, Adam Goodes and Dean LaMantia.  Steven Khull of the Cougars was able to tie the game up at 4 goals each at the 2:41 mark of the 3rd period.  The overtime period resulted in 4-4 tie.  Brian Kment faced 42 shots and Pierce Cadieux faced 51 shots during the match up.

 

November 4, 2018 - Sault College Cougars (8-1-1-0) vs. Michigan State University (MSU) (6-2-1-0) – ACHA Men's Division 3

Within the first minute of the game MSU Junior Dakota Ristow scored, and was answered 20 seconds later by Cougar's Captain Ryan Vendramin.   The scoring continued in the first period with Steven Khull, Nathan Curley and Andrew Barbeau contributing for the Cougars.  Joseph Zelenka from MSU scored the final goal of the 1st period ending the first 20 minutes with the Cougars leading 4-2.  During the 2nd period Zelenka and Vendramin each added one goal to the scoreboard.  Junior, Colin Lynch notched the first goal of the third period for MSU at the 16:27 mark.  Vendramin with his 3rd goal of game helped the Cougars hold the lead at the 13:22 mark.  With plenty of time left in the game, Ryan Boyd from MSU tried to rally his team with another goal.  The Cougars added another 2 goals at the end of the game from Austen Rowe and Nathan CurleyBrian Kment faced 47 shots and Pierce Cadieux faced 49 shots during the match up.

 

The Cougar's hold a record of 9-1-1-0 going into the 1st ranking period and their next action is November 10th and 11th when they travel to Michigan Tech (ACHA Division 2) for 2 road games.
