Cougars tune up for trip to Chicago

GAME 1: SAULT COUGARS vs SAULT CARHA
SAULT STE. MARIE – The Sault College Cougars Women's ACHA Division II hockey team, skated to a 5-2 loss against the Sault Women's Hockey League CARHA Rep team this past Saturday at the Pee Wee Arena.
The game was close through the first period and ended tied at one with the Cougar's goal coming from Hannah Leask. The Sault WHL Team added four unanswered goals before Olivia Barsanti responded to make it 5-2 in the third period. The Sault Women's Hockey League is participating in the National Canadian Amateur Recreational Hockey Association Championships this year in Vancouver and will face off against the Cougars four more times this season. The games will help the College and the Women's Hockey League with competitive play as they each get ready for their respective goals.
The Cougars will face off this weekend against Loyola University in Chicago, in a critical weekend series. A sweep will almost certainly ensure a spot in the playoffs this March in Flint Michigan in the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association playoffs. "We want our women's team to remain focused on Loyola this weekend and to continue to get better. We see a lot of potential for this team to compete in its first inaugural ACHA Division II season. We are also looking forward to playing at home this January and February against some of our rivals, so that the home town crowd can cheer us on." says General Manager Rick Webb.
