Cougars were at the top of their Class
The Fanshawe Falcons went home with two Gold Medals and one Silver at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Curling Championships presented by belairdirect in Hamilton.
Charlie Richard's Fanshawe foursome needed an extra end to defeat Nick Servant's Sault College rink 6-4 at the Glendale Golf and Country Club Sunday. The Cougars had gone through the round robin and semi final without a loss.
Other members of the winning Richard team included Vice Tyler Twining, Second Eric Jones, Lead Brady St. Louis and Alternate Owen Tester.
DJ Donaldson was Head Coach of the Falcons.
Sean Armstrong and his Humber Hawks' rink captured the men's bronze medal with a 5-1 victory over Confederation, skipped by Kurtwood McGuire.
Fanshawe also won the women's title. Kaitlyn Poirier just got by Humber's Cassie Paccanaro 3-2 in the Gold Medal match.
Other members of the winning rink were Vice Erin White, Second Brianne Donegan, Lead Lauren Massey and Alternate Gabby McSloy.
Barry Westman was the Falcons' Head Coach.
Paige Droog and her Fleming Knights' foursome won the bronze medal, defeating the host Mohawk Mountaineers, skipped by Alex Nunes, 8-5.
Humber won the mixed event, 8-7 over Brett Henderson's Fanshawe crew.
Members of the Hawks' Gold Medalists were Skip Johan Paquette, Vice Genna Clarke, Second Gavin Hinton and Lead Nadia Marrast.
Humber's Head Coach was Zach Shurtleff.
