Recap For Men's Basketball

The men's basketball team travelled to Barrie, ON to participate in the Georgian Classic. The guys played two games against OCAA east division teams, the Georgian Grizzlies and the Fleming Knights. Both Friday October 12th and Saturday October 13th showed that the Cougars had heart as they played hard fought games coming home with a 0-2 record.

The Friday matchup saw your Cougars take on the host Grizzlies, the guys started off the first three minutes of the game strong, where they had held a lead for two minutes. However the Grizzlies ended the quarter on big run scoring 27 points.  The guys were not able to recover after the Grizzlies big run, and ended the half down 42-22. In the second half the Cougars showed heart trying to battle back, but fell short ending the game with a score of 57-94 for the Grizzlies. Jimmy Thai was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 21 points, with contributions from Ahmed Kurdi with 10 points, Sheldon Goulbourne& Jeremy Okonmah with 8 points each. In total the Cougars had 7 out of 10 players provide scoring.

After Friday's tough loss the Cougars were back in action Saturday against the Knights. The Cougars were unable to shake off the previous game and dug themselves into a large hole, as the score a halftime was 52-27. The guys did respond in the second half of the game with contributions from seven Cougars, they showed mental fortitude at the line as well going 16 for 22. Stephen Miller led the way for the Cougars with 13 points followed closely by Sheldon with 12 and Jimmy with 11. However the Cougars ended up falling to the Knights 97-61.

The men's team will play one more exhibition game at Bay College in Michigan, and then start their season the following weekend October 27th & 28th against the Sheridan Bruins.
