Cougars Wrap up their Season

February 16th 2019 – Sault Cougars vs St. Clair Saints

On February 16th the Sault Cougars took to the court to face the St. Clair Saints in their final games of the season. Before these games the Cougars honored one athlete (#5 Kevin Ramos) who will be moving on from the program. The Cougars who got out to a slow start, dug themselves a hole that would prove difficult to climb out of, losing the first quarter 26 – 6  due to missed layups shooting a low percent from the field. The Cougars didn't give up hope as they battled and competed against the Saints, out matched and out maned the Cougars couldn't light a big enough spark to overcome their first half woes, this lead to the Cougars losing 94 – 60.

The following day saw a revitalized Cougar squad take on the Saints. The Saints, who had to win this game to clinch their spot in the playoffs, were tested by this Cougars squad. After 20 minutes of play the Saints had a lead of 7 points, the third quarter proved fatal for the Cougars as they lost it by 9 points, even with their surge in the forth the Cougars fell just short of a victory losing 79 – 69.

Due to an earlier regular season game being postponed the Cougars travelled to Sudbury on Monday February 18th to play the Mohawk Mountaineers as a make-up game. The Cougars who were playing their third game in as many days started off strong competing with the Mountaineers, going back and forth, until the Cougars got into foul trouble. This saw the Cougars fall behind in the first half. The Cougars who were rallied by their head coach came out winning the third quarter 27 -10; despite their fantastic second half the Cougars couldn't claw all the way back from their deficit losing 103 – 72.

We would like to thank all of the men's basketball team for their effort and dedication throughout the entire 2018-2019 season.
