Bio

The Sault College Cougars are pleased to announce the recent hiring of Patrick Murray as the Head Coach of the Varsity Men's Basketball team, for the 2019-2020 OCAA season.Prior to accepting the position, Murray served as an Assistant Coach for his alma mater on Algoma University's Men's and Women's teams for the last 7 years.  He brings with him experience coaching locally in the high school circuit as well as within the OCAA and Usports ranks. Murray was also known as the creator of Algoma University's Cancer Awareness Games which, following his efforts has joined onto the larger OUA cancer awareness events. Murray comes to the College as a highly qualified and respected coach, both locally and at the Canadian University level.

As an athlete, Murray competed as an Algoma University Thunderbird from 2006-2011, while taking on the role of captain in his last four years. During his successful basketball career, Pat was a member of the 2007 Silver medalists and garnered accolades that included 1st-Team league All-Star, 2nd Team league All-Star and Championship All-Star. In 2012 Pat was inducted into Algoma University's Hall of Fame.   

Murray is excited about the challenge in front of him. "I am humbled to have this opportunity to lead and grow this program for years to come. I look forward to working with the staff and players to bring an exciting and winning culture back to Sault College and Sault Ste. Marie."
