Cougars clawed by the Falcons
January 26th & 27th, 2019 – Sault College Cougars @ Fanshawe College Falcons (London, ON)
The Sault College Cougars Women's Basketball team travelled to London Ontario to compete against the number two nationally ranked Fanshawe Falcons. January 26th the Cougars took to the floor at 3:00pm to take on the Falcons during their Falcon Fest. Early on in the game both teams were trading points back and forth, this caused the Falcons to reconsider the strength of the Cougars who were still looking for their first win. This lead to 14 – 0 run for the Falcons who never looked back from there, keeping up the pressure all game, holding the Cougars to only 28 points. A shining light for the Cougars was Cassidy Sabourin scored a game high 16 points and 9 rebounds.
The next day the Cougars were set to try and surpass the obstacle that was the Falcons for a second day in a row. Again early on both teams were going back and forth until the Falcons stepped up their game ending the first quarter 25 – 13. The Falcons defense was just as strong the second day as they held the Cougars to 33 points. Cassidy Sabourin scored a team high of 12 points, and a game high of 11 rebounds.
The Cougars are back in action this weekend as they host the Humber Hawks, tipoff is at 6:00pm Saturday February 2nd.
