Cougars compete in season opening golf tournament
[September 17, 2024] – Sault Cougars golf season got underway this past weekend at the St. Clair College Invitational hosted by St. Clair College at Ambassador Golf Club on day 1 and Roseland Golf Club on day 2.
The Cougars were led on Day one by second-year golfer Adrian O’Dell as he posted a score of 82 to finish inside the top 45 after the opening round. Colton Smither and Brett Morgan each posted scores of 86 & 87 respectively.
In a shortened Day 2 round of only 14 holes, Colton Smithers played some excellent golf recording a pair of birdies en route to a +3 finish and a T20 for round 2. Brett Morgan recorded a pair of birdies as well, as he posted a +6 on the second day of tournament play.
As a team, the Cougars would fail to medal at the Invitational but showed growth as they continue to prepare for the OCAA Championships from September 30th – October 2nd at the Barrie Country Club and hosted by the Georgian Grizzlies.
