Cougars fall to the Lambton Lions
The Sault College Cougars baseball team faced off against the Lambton Lions on Saturday at I.D.A Park. In the opening game of the doubleheader, Bryce Blixt took the mound for the Cougars while Kale Murray pitched for Lambton.
After being held scoreless in the first inning, the Lions' bats came to life as they combined for 8 runs through their next two innings. The Cougars would manage to cut into the lead with an RBI for Michael Starzomski as he was walked with the bases loaded. This would be the lone bright spot for the Cougars as Lambton added four more runs for a 12-1 victory. Aiden Russell & Dylan Rudge would record the Cougars' only hits of the game, while Blixt recorded 3 strikeouts. Murray would record the complete game win for the Lions.
In the second half of the doubleheader, the Lions picked up right where they left off in game one, recording 10 runs in the opening half inning. The Cougars could not get the offense started and would be shut out with a final score of 17-0. Owen Daynard recorded the loss for the Cougars, while Aidan McDonald would go 4 innings with 4 strikeouts in the victory.
Sault College continues its fight for the playoffs with games against Centennial, Seneca, George Brown & Fanshawe left on the schedule.
