Sault College Baseball Welcomes a New Era with Ryan Johns at the Helm
Sault Ste. Marie, ON — Sault College Baseball is proud to announce an exciting transition as we look ahead to the 2025 season. Ryan Johns has been named the new head coach of the Cougars, ushering in a new era of leadership and growth for the program.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Coach Mike Lebel, whose dedication and vision have been instrumental in establishing Sault College Baseball. From the program's inception, Coach Lebel has worked tirelessly to lay the foundation for success, creating opportunities for student-athletes to thrive both on and off the field. His contributions will always be a valued part of our history.
Ryan Johns brings a wealth of experience, energy, and a fresh perspective to the team. His commitment to player development, competitive excellence, and fostering a winning culture aligns perfectly with the vision of Sault College Athletics.
Johns was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, playing his youth baseball as a member of the Soo Black Sox Program. He went on to play collegiate baseball at Brock University winning two Canadian Championships. After his playing career finished, Johns began coaching at Brock University as a pitching coach in addition to coaching high school baseball in St. Catherines.
Ryan has been instrumental in developing the Black Sox program as both a pitching coach and head coach. He was recognized for his hard work when he was selected as the head coach for Team North in the Ontario Summer Games. Ryan has been a part of the Sault College baseball program since its inception in 2022 as the pitching coach.
As we embark on this new chapter, we are confident that Coach Johns will build upon the strong foundation set by Coach Lebel and lead the Cougars to new heights.
Thank you, Coach Lebel, for your incredible impact, and welcome, Coach Johns, to the Cougar family!
