December 14, 2018 - Sault College Cougars ACHA Division 3 (15-2-1-0) vs. Saginaw Valley State University (7-9-3-0)

Cougars take to the ice at the GFL against the Cardinals

Ryan Vendramin's line set the tone of the game early scoring the team's first goal six minutes into the game. Four other Cougars scored in the opening period, rocketing the Cougars to a 6 – 0 lead.

Nicholas Nigro started off the second period for the Cougars netting the first of his two goals on the night. This goal was followed up quickly by the Cardinals who were able to find the back of the net twice in less than a minute. Bryceton Lalonde responded to both the Cardinals goals with two of his own, this lead to a score of 10 – 3 at the end of 40 minutes of play.

The Cougars were able to find the back of the net three more times in the third period giving the Cougars the win with a final score of 13 – 3.

Cougars look to end off the first half of the season with a win

Max Khull, Ryan Vendramin, and Austin Rowe's line combined for three of the Cougars first period goals. Brad Thrower added in a goal of his own to add to the Cougars lead. The Cardinals were able to fight back scoring two of their own ending the first period 4 -2.

Nicholas Nigro and Ryan Vendramin both provided a goal for the Cougars in the second to try and put the Cardinals away, however the Cardinals ended off the period with a late goal, cutting the lead to 3.

In the third Nigro scored the Cougars lone goal putting the team up 7 – 3. After the goal the Cardinals looked determined to change the outcome of the game, with a late second half surge from the Cardinals who were able to score 3 unanswered goals cutting the lead to one. Down only one goal the Cardinals kept on pressing the Cougars looking to tie up the game, however the Cougars held their ground to maintain the lead at the end of the game.
